Drivers of New Brunswick 5/5

number 5Part 5/5

What do you love most about what you do?”
“Honestly, nothing,” said Rodney Tejaed, a former chef with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for 10 years. He began driving a taxi because he was not getting enough vacation hours at his previous job and driving a taxi allowed him to see his family more. “It’s a more convenient job. I can take off when I need to,” Tejaed said. One of the challenges he has faced is picky customers .He said he sometimes picks up customers that refuse to tell him their destination because they already called into the station. Tejaed said the Uber drivers are not a threat to him because he believes that everyone should work and be able to provide for their families. “I don’t own a taxi cab, so I don’t have to pay so much for a medallion. But other drivers spend a lot of money and have been in this business for a while, so for the Uber drivers to just come and take it–it’s sad.”
